Textron Unveils Next-Gen Cessna Citation Jets at NBAA-BACE 2024

Textron Aviation introduced three new models in its Cessna Citation line—the M2 Gen3, CJ3 Gen3, and CJ4 Gen3—at the 2024 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. These next-generation private jets, all currently in development, showcase advanced technology designed for safety, efficiency, and comfort, with the CJ4 Gen3 expected to be the first to enter service in 2026, followed by the CJ3 Gen3 and M2 Gen3 in 2027.

Key features include:

  1. Garmin Emergency Autoland: Available across all three models, this system can autonomously land the aircraft in an emergency, enhancing safety for both pilots and passengers.
  2. Avionics and Technology: The CJ4 Gen3 will debut Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics, designed for an intuitive piloting experience. Enhanced connectivity features such as wireless charging and USB-A/C ports will be standard across the models.
  3. Comfort Enhancements:
    • CJ4 Gen3: With new winglets, improved lighting, and lithium-ion batteries for cold weather reliability, this model offers the largest capacity in the light jet category (up to 11 occupants) and nearly 10% lower operating costs.
    • CJ3 Gen3: Additional legroom, a customizable cabin with advanced lighting, and a naturally-lit lavatory bring added luxury, while seating accommodates up to 10 passengers.
    • M2 Gen3: Updated seating with extra space at the co-pilot’s position, plus improved comfort amenities, provides a practical yet comfortable experience for up to eight occupants.

These models reinforce Textron’s commitment to combining innovation with Cessna’s iconic legacy, ensuring an elevated experience for Citation jet owners and passengers.
