An island with more than 200 churches, Sifnos has many temples, dedicated to the mother of the infant Jesus. These whitewashed churches are spread across the island’s landscape and dot its seaside villages.
The Church of the Seven Martyrs on Sifnos island, is a small whitewashed and blue-domed church stands on its own tiny islet out in the expanse of the blue sea. It is considered the most photographed of the island and an aerial view is even more breathtaking. Sifnos also features an small uninhabited island inside on of its bay where the the Church of Panagia Kitriani, the oldest ecclesiastic monument of the island, stands alone.
On the north at the peak of a hill, there is the monastery of Panagia tou Vounou which was built in 1813. Fly over what seems like countless areas of island which feature important religious monuments.
