Tinos is a charming, enchanting island that is special for those of the Greek Orthodox faith. Greek pilgrims travel to the Cycladic island twice a year, on March 25 and August 15. Their journey includes a to visit the famous church of Panagia Megalochari (the Blessed Virgin Mary). With wishes in their hearts they make their way to it, some crawling from the port, in the hopes their vows will be fulfilled and to seek comfort.
Tinos may be the most important Orthodox center of worship in Greece but it is also an important Catholic center of worship too. This religious characteristic is rare in Greece and adds to the island experience.

Its famous for its picturesque villages of which there are 40 in total. It’s also the homeland of some of Greece’s most famous sculptors specializing in marble sculpture including Gyzis, Lytras, Chalepas, Filippotis and Sochos. The marble crafts tradition lives on in the one-of-a-kind marbled village of Pyrgos. There, the chapels, fountains, arches and more are sculpted from fine Greek marble.
